The
shop's
history began in 1977 when Lois Peters enlisted the help of
four other local women to help her rent costumes out of her
basement. As their collection grew, the Costume Shop moved
to bigger and bigger locations. After Spencer Community
Theatre purchased the Grocer Building in 1982, the Costume
Shop finally had a permanent home on the second floor. Since
that time, SCT's costume rental business has grown, becoming
a major source of revenue for the Spencer Community Theatre
and keeps it a major arts institution in the Spencer area. |
